Pre-Baptism Requirements

  1. Salvation & Repentance:
    • Personal acceptance of Jesus Christ as Savior (Acts 2:38).
    • Public confession of faith (Romans 10:9-10).
  2. Age & Understanding:
    • For believers old enough to understand baptism (typically teens/adults; no infant baptism).
  3. Pastoral Counseling:
    • Mandatory session with a COG minister to confirm readiness.

Baptismal Service at COG Karanampettai Main Church

  • Schedule:
    • Usually held during a Sunday morning/evening service or a special baptism service.
  • Procedure:
    1. Opening Scripture: Matthew 28:19 read by the minister.
    2. Testimony (Optional): Candidate shares their faith journey briefly.
    3. Vows:
      • Minister asks:
        “Do you believe Jesus is the Son of God and your Savior?”
        “Do you repent of your sins and pledge to follow Christ?”
    4. Baptism by Immersion:
      • Conducted in the COG Kovai Main Church baptismal pool.
      • Candidate is fully immersed “in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.”
    5. Prayer & Welcome:
      • Congregation prays for the newly baptized.
      • Certificate presented as a keepsake.

Post-Baptism

  1. Discipleship:
    • New believers join COG’s discipleship classes.
  2. Church Membership:
    • Baptism is a step toward formal COG membership.
